Every Panel Brand
Heliocol, FAFCO and FAFCO SunSaver, Aquatherm and Solar Industries, Techno-Solis, iSwim, SunValue, Hi-Tech, Universal, SunStar and rubber mat systems.

All brands, any installer
Cape Coral Solar Water Heater Pros repairs solar pool heaters of every brand across Cape Coral, from leaking panels and split headers to controllers that send water to the roof at midnight. We work on systems we installed, systems other companies installed, and systems whose installer or manufacturer has closed.
Since 2010 we have traced leaks, swapped sensors and replaced valve actuators on tile, shingle and metal roofs from Cape Harbour to the Burnt Store corridor. The diagnostic visit costs $149 and is credited to the repair if you approve it while we are there, and you see a written price before we fix anything.
Repair visits usually happen within 1 to 2 business days in Cape Coral, and hard leaks go to the front of the line.
What we repair
We repair the collectors, the roof plumbing, and the valves and controls at the pool pad on any brand of solar pool heater. Every visit ends with a pressure test and a controller check, so you know the whole system works, not just the part we fixed.
Heliocol, FAFCO and FAFCO SunSaver, Aquatherm and Solar Industries, Techno-Solis, iSwim, SunValue, Hi-Tech, Universal, SunStar and rubber mat systems.
If the company that installed your system is gone, we take it over. We identify the panels, find compatible parts and tell you honestly whether the system is worth keeping.
The $149 diagnostic is credited to the repair when you approve it during the visit. Repairs carry 1 year parts and labor on the parts we replace.
If your solar works alongside a heat pump, our pool heat pump repair and installation service covers that unit too, so one visit can sort out both heaters.
Warning signs
Most solar pool heater problems show up as one of four signs: water where it should not be, a cold pool on a sunny day, water going to the roof at night, or bubbles and noise. If you want to rule out simple causes first, our solar pool heater not working guide lists the checks you can make from the ground.
Water running down the wall below the panels, wet spots on the lanai roof or more pool top-offs than usual usually mean a leaking tube, a cracked header or a loose coupling. In Cape Coral the common causes are squirrels and rats chewing header pipes, sun-brittle older panels and storm debris.
If the pool stays cold on a clear afternoon, water may not be reaching the panels at all. A diverter valve stuck in bypass, a controller switched off or set too low, or low flow from a dirty filter are the usual culprits.
A system that runs solar after sunset cools the pool and wastes pump time. It usually points to a failed roof or water sensor, damaged sensor wire, or a controller that lost its settings after a power outage.
A burst of bubbles from the return jets for a minute or two after solar switches on is normal while the panels fill. Bubbles that keep coming point to a failing vacuum relief valve, an air leak on the suction side or a low pool water level.

Repairs
Solar pool repairs fall into four groups: the panels, the controls, the valves and the roof attachment. Prices for each are in the repair cost table further down.
A single leaking tube on an individual-tube panel can often be plugged at both ends, and the panel keeps working with slightly less collector area. A cracked header or a panel with many failing tubes is replaced on its own, without disturbing the panels beside it.
We test and replace roof and water sensors, controllers such as the Pentair SolarTouch and Hayward Goldline GL-235, and the motorized actuators that turn the diverter valve. A dead actuator is a common reason a pool stops heating while the controller still shows solar on.
The vacuum relief valve lets the panels drain when the pump stops, and the check valve keeps roof water from rushing back through the filter. If either fails, panels can hold water during a freeze or the filter can be flushed backward, so we check both on every visit.
Straps loosen with heat cycles, and plain steel hardware rusts on saltwater canal lots in the southern Cape. Before hurricane season we tighten or replace straps with 316 stainless and reseal penetrations that show cracked sealant.
Orphaned systems
FAFCO closed in late 2024, so owners of FAFCO and SunSaver panels no longer have factory support, and any remaining factory warranty is effectively gone. The trade magazine Pool & Spa News reported the closure in December 2024.
A FAFCO system is still worth repairing when the panels are sound and the leaks are few. When a panel is past saving, a matched replacement works if it fits the old panel's size, header connection and flow, which we check before quoting.
The same three paths apply to any system whose original installer has closed or moved on to solar electric, which describes many pool heaters on 1980s and 1990s Cape Coral homes.

Repair or replace
Repair when the problem is a valve, a sensor or a few leaks on panels with years of life left. Replace when the panels are near the end of their 15 to 20 year life, leaks keep coming back, or the roof is about to be replaced anyway.
The table shows how we usually advise owners, by system age and symptom.
| System age | Symptom | Usual path |
|---|---|---|
| Under 10 years | Controller, sensor, actuator or valve fault | Repair; the part costs far less than the system |
| Under 10 years | One or two panel leaks | Repair the leaks and check the straps while on the roof |
| 10 to 15 years | Repeated leaks across several panels | Replace the failing panels, or price a new array if most are affected |
| 15 years and older | Brittle panels, new leaks every season | Replace the array; patches rarely hold for long |
| Any age, FAFCO or orphaned brand | Failed panel | Repair if sound, matched panel or new array if not |
| Any age, roof due for replacement | Any | Decide before the re-roof, while the panels are coming off |
When a re-roof is coming, our solar panel removal and reinstall service takes the panels off and puts them back, and that is the cheapest moment to swap in new ones. An array that was undersized from the start may also be worth replacing even while it still works.
Our process
When the part is on hand, a repair is diagnosed, priced, fixed and tested in the same visit. Parts for orphaned brands can take longer to source, and we tell you the wait before you approve the work.
We check the controller, sensors, actuator and valves at the pool pad, then inspect the panels, headers, straps and penetrations on the roof.
You get a written price before any work starts, with options when there is more than one sensible fix.
After the repair we run the system with the panels full and check every header, coupling and tube for drips under pump pressure.
We confirm the sensors read correctly, the actuator turns the valve both ways, and the controller settings, including freeze protection, suit the season.
Repair prices
Most solar pool heater repairs in Cape Coral cost $95 to $750 in 2026, plus the $149 diagnostic, which is credited when you approve the repair during the visit. Three things move the price within each range.
| Repair | Typical price |
|---|---|
| Repair diagnostic visit | $149, credited to an approved repair |
| Panel leak repair | $185 to $350 per leak |
| Panel replacement | $450 to $750 per panel, installed |
| Controller or sensor replacement | $350 to $700 |
| Motorized diverter valve actuator | $325 to $550 |
| Vacuum relief valve replacement | $95 to $185 |
| Post-storm inspection with photo report | $149 |
| Annual solar pool heater inspection | $169 |
Repairs carry 1 year parts and labor on the parts we replace. If replacement makes more sense, the solar pool heater cost guide shows what a new system costs.
Why us
We fix solar pool heaters as a core trade, not as a side line to solar electric sales, and we tell you when a system is not worth fixing.
Repair visits usually happen within 1 to 2 business days in Cape Coral and 2 to 3 in outer areas such as Lehigh Acres, Bonita Springs and Estero and Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte. Hard leaks go first.
Since 2010 we have worked on FAFCO, Heliocol, Aquatherm and rubber mat systems alike. We source matched parts for brands that no longer have a factory behind them.
We are licensed and insured, and you can check any Florida contractor on the DBPR license verification page. Every repair is priced in writing before work starts.
FAQ
Quick answers for Cape Coral owners dealing with a solar pool heater problem.
Turn the solar controller off, or turn a manual valve to bypass, then switch off the pump and give the panels a few minutes to drain. Close the isolation valves if you know where they are and call us, but do not climb onto the roof yourself.
Yes. Cooler months are often the easier time for roof work, and a repair in November or December restores heat when you need it most.
It often does, depending on your policy and deductible, but only your insurer can confirm coverage. Take photos before anything is moved, keep the system off, and book a post-storm inspection so you have a dated photo report for the claim.
Yes. We repair every brand from any installer, including FAFCO systems and systems whose installer has closed.
Repairs carry 1 year parts and labor on the parts we replace. Panels we install as replacements also carry their manufacturer's warranty, such as Heliocol's 12-year limited warranty.
