Solar Pool Heating in Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte, FL

Cape Coral Solar Water Heater Pros installs, repairs and reinstalls solar pool heaters and solar water heaters in Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte, the Charlotte County communities just north of Cape Coral. Homes here tend to share three traits: a canal out back, a roof rebuilt or replaced since Hurricane Charley in 2004, and an owner who is retired or away part of the year.

We have worked in Southwest Florida since 2010 and reach Punta Gorda in 30 to 40 minutes up Burnt Store Rd or I-75. Depending on the address, we file permits with the City of Punta Gorda or with Charlotte County.

Every array we mount near salt water uses 316 stainless steel straps and fasteners, and our work on a new installation is covered for 5 years, parts and labor included.

Burnt Store Rd is the direct route to Punta Gorda Isles and Burnt Store Isles, while I-75 and US 41 (Tamiami Trail) bring us to Port Charlotte, Kings Hwy and the Murdock area.

Services

Solar Services We Bring to Charlotte County

Charlotte County work falls into four groups, shaped by salt air, storm history and owners who are away for the summer.

Panel Removal for Re-Roofs

We take the panels off before your roofer starts and put them back with new stainless hardware once the new roof passes inspection. The process is laid out on our solar panel removal and reinstall service page.

Salt Air Repairs

Corroded straps, seized valves and cracked headers are the faults salt air brings to canal homes. Our solar pool heater repair service fixes them on every brand, with 1 year of parts and labor on what we replace.

Storm Season Inspections

A $169 annual pool system inspection catches loose straps before hurricane season, and a $149 post-storm visit produces a dated photo report for your insurer. Both run through our maintenance and storm inspection service.

New Systems on Rebuilt Roofs

A roof replaced after Charley or Ian is a sound base for a new array. Our solar pool heater installation service sizes the system to your pool's surface area and mounts it to the design wind speed for the address.

Salt air

Canal Homes, Salt Air and Corrosion-Resistant Hardware

Salt air off Charlotte Harbor corrodes plain steel and zinc-plated hardware, so every strap, screw and clamp we put on a Punta Gorda Isles or Burnt Store Isles roof is 316 stainless steel. That grade contains molybdenum, which resists chloride pitting far better than the common 304 grade.

Hardware is only part of it. Salty air also dries out rubber seals and attacks the electronics in controllers and valve actuators mounted outdoors, so canal-front systems deserve a closer look than inland ones.

What We Check Each Year on a Saltwater Canal

Strap and fastener condition, sealant at every roof penetration, the vacuum relief valve, the diverter valve actuator and the sensor wiring. The $169 annual inspection covers all of it, and we recommend it every year on the sailboat canals.

Freshwater Waterways in Port Charlotte

Homes on Port Charlotte's freshwater waterways see less corrosion than those on the harbor canals. We still use stainless hardware there, and an inspection every one to two years is usually enough.

Re-roof season

Storm-Tested Roofs and Panel Reinstalls

Charlotte County has taken two major hits in two decades: Hurricane Charley tore through Punta Gorda as a Category 4 on August 13, 2004, and Hurricane Ian struck the region again in 2022. Much of the older housing was rebuilt or re-roofed after Charley under the newer Florida Building Code, and many of those roofs are now around 20 years old.

That puts plenty of homes back in the re-roof cycle, and a solar array has to come off before the roofer starts. Here is how we handle it.

  1. Itemized Quote for the Adjuster

We price removal and reinstall as separate lines, typically $1,400 to $3,200 for a pool system (about $150 to $230 per panel) and $950 to $1,900 for a solar water heater. That makes it easy to include in an insurance claim alongside the roof.

  2. Removal Before the Roofer Arrives

Removal takes half a day to a day. We cap the plumbing, set the controller so the pump cannot send water to an empty roof and store the panels in your garage, on the lawn or at our yard.

  3. New Roof Installed and Inspected

Your roofer replaces the roof and the building department inspects it. We wait for that pass so our new penetrations go into an approved roof.

  4. Reinstall With New Stainless Hardware

We reinstall in 1 day with new 316 stainless straps and fasteners, reseal every penetration and run the system to check for leaks. Our reinstall work and the penetrations we seal carry a 5-year warranty.

When a storm is on the way, leave the panels on the roof, because pulling them down in a rush is unsafe. Our hurricane-ready solar heating guide covers what to do before and after.

Permits: City of Punta Gorda vs Charlotte County

Addresses inside Punta Gorda city limits are permitted by the City of Punta Gorda Building Division, while Port Charlotte and the rest of unincorporated Charlotte County go to Charlotte County Community Development. We check the parcel, file with the right office and schedule the inspections it requires.

Both offices enforce the Florida Building Code 8th Edition until the 9th Edition takes effect on December 31, 2026. Charlotte County is not in the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone, which covers only Miami-Dade and Broward, and we mount every array to the design wind speed for its address under ASCE 7.

Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte homes are served by FPL, which offers no solar water heater rebate at present.

Charlotte County questions

Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte Solar FAQs

These are the questions Charlotte County homeowners ask before they book.

How often do your crews work in Charlotte County?

We book Charlotte County jobs through the week as they come in, the same way we schedule other outer-area calls. Repair visits are usually within 2 to 3 business days, and leaks or a house with no hot water go to the front of the line.

Can you reinstall my panels after an insurance re-roof?

Yes. We give you an itemized removal and reinstall quote for the adjuster, take the panels down before the roofer starts and reinstall them in 1 day once the new roof passes inspection. Details are on our panel removal and reinstall page.

Do the panels need to come down when a hurricane heads for Charlotte Harbor?

No. Properly strapped panels rarely leave the roof, and removing them in a rush is dangerous; switch the controller off or to manual and leave them mounted. After the storm, have the straps, headers and roof penetrations checked before you run the system again.

Do you work on solar water heaters in Port Charlotte too?

Yes. We repair pumps, controllers, glycol loops and tanks on every brand, and we install SunEarth flat plate systems with 80 or 120 gallon Rheem Solaraide or SunEarth tanks.
