Tile roofs
Installing on Barrel and Flat Tile Roofs
We install on barrel (S-shaped) and flat concrete tile by lifting the tiles where each mount goes, fastening the mount to the roof deck, flashing and sealing it, then setting the tiles back around it. A tile roof install takes 1 to 2 days, against 1 day on most shingle or metal roofs.
Tile cracks when it is stepped on in the wrong place, so how a crew moves across the roof matters as much as the mounts.
Walking the Roof
We step on the lower part of each tile, where it rests on the course below, and never on the unsupported middle. Walk paths are planned before the first panel goes up.
Spare Tiles and Breakage
Builders often leave spare tiles in the garage, and we ask about them at the estimate. If a tile cracks during our work, we swap it for a matching spare before we leave.
Sealing the Penetrations
Every mount point is sealed beneath the tile and checked before the tiles go back. The roof penetrations we make carry a 10-year leak warranty on top of our 5-year workmanship coverage.
